The domestic musical "Swag Age: Shout, Joseon" has won an award from the famed West End of London, the work's management agency PL Entertainment said on Jan. 14.

The musical won Best Concert Production at the 2025 BroadwayWorld UK / West End Awards as the first from Korea to do so and the first to claim the inaugural honor from a new category launched last year.

Hosted by the U.S.-based BroadwayWorld, the largest theater site on the web covering Broadway, the West End and 100 American cities and 45 countries in 12 languages, the awards since 2011 have recognized outstanding works in British theater, musicals and performing arts based on audience voting, not judging panels.

The Korean musical's honor apparently resulted from "Swag Age in Concert," an open concert held on Sept. 8 last year at Gillian Lynne Theatre in the West End.

Premiering in 2019, the musical is about the people of a fictional Joseon Dynasty crying out for freedom and equality under the yoke of oppression and unfairness. This West End production condensed key elements of the musical in a concert format.
