K-pop boy band Stray Kids on March 13 won four major categories at this year's Japan Gold Disc Awards.
The official website of the awards said the group won Best Asian Artist, Album of the Year, Best 3 Albums and Music Video of the Year in the Asian category, the most honors by a foreign artist.
All the winners of Best 3 Albums in Asia were K-pop: Stray Kids' third EP in Japan "Hollow," SEVENTEEN's fifth full-length album "Happy Burstday" and Tomorrow x Together's third studio album in Japan "Starkissed."
K-pop also stood out in the new artist category. TWS won New Artist of the Year and Best 3 New Artists while girl group ILLIT shared Best 3 New Artists.
Jennie of BLACKPINK's "Like Jennie" won Song of the Year by Download in the Western category. "Golden" from the soundtrack to the animated megahit "KPop Demon Hunters" received the same award for Asia as well as Song of the Year by Streaming.
The Japan Gold Disc Awards selects winners based on music-related sales data including CDs, music videos and digital. Founded in 1987, the annual honors recognize the best music across genres like pop, rock, classical and jazz.
