"Possible Love," the latest work by director Lee Chang-dong, has received official invitations from the Competition section of the Venice International Film Festival and the Special Presentations category of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Both events will open in September.

The Venice event's secretariat on July 24 released its 20 Competition picks, with Lee's work being the only Korean film on the list. This marks the director's return to the section after 24 years since "Oasis" in 2002.

On July 20, the movie's distributor Netflix said "Possible Love" will be screened in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto festival as part of its North American premiere. Director Yeon Sang-ho's mystery thriller "Paradise Lost" will also make its world debut at the event.

"Possible Love" is about a couple laid off from their jobs and another couple who makes a documentary of the former. Starring Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, the film shows how these four characters get intertwined as they face their own lives and hidden desires.
