A Seoul lifestyle festival will feature domestic beauty and cosmetics, fashion, running and hip-hop performances in the city's downtown area.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Aug. 17 said the Beautiful Life in Seoul Festival from Aug. 22-25 around Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung-gu District will combine fashion, design, books, wellness and entertainment.
The festival's flagship event, Seoul Beauty Week, will bring together the latest products and know-how of about 152 brands in medical care and wellness as well as beauty. Export consultations are scheduled between domestic small and medium enterprises in beauty and 115 buyers from 48 countries.
The interactive event "K-Styling Experience" offers visitors advice and tips from experts on makeup and styling that suits them best. The Seoul Beauty Forum will cover the latest domestic beauty trends and the future of the global market for the sector.
The Design Lab will host an exhibition of fashion brands of athleisure, a hybrid style of athletic clothing worn as everyday wear, and the DDP Design Book Fair will present a book market and talks with authors.
Gallery Moon, an urban and "emotionally soothing space in the heart of the city," will run wellness programs including meditation.
A running program led by professional coaches is slated for around the DDP complex, while Summer Seoul Con will showcase K-pop and hip-hop performances at Oullim Square.
The city government will also host a large fashion market that connects DDP with the Dongdaemun shopping district to make the festival a catalyst for promoting community collaboration. A community food market and food trucks will also enable shopping and eating in one place.
Reservations are available for programs with limited capacity, while others will need none.
