The country’s largest art fair Kiaf Seoul and the world-renowned Frieze Seoul will both open on Sept. 2.

The Korea Galleries Association, which organizes Kiaf (Korea International Art Fair) Seoul, and Frieze, the British art organizer of Frieze Seoul, on Aug. 19 announced this year's events at a joint news conference held at the hotel Westin Josun Seoul in Seoul's Jung-gu District.

Kiaf Seoul will run from Sept. 2-6 and Frieze Seoul from Sept. 2-5 at the convention center Coex in Seoul's Gangnam-gu District.

Kiaf Seoul will spotlight leading domestic art houses like Gallery Hyundai, Kukje Gallery and Arario Gallery as well as those from abroad such as Whitestone Gallery in Hong Kong, Art of the World Gallery in Houston and Kornfeld Galerie in Berlin.

Twenty galleries will debut at the event this year: 15 from abroad such as the Nino Mier Gallery of the U.S., Anna Nova Gallery of Russia and JD Malat Gallery of the U.K. and five domestic including Gallery Hesed, Hedwig Gallery and Hori Art Space.

Over 125 galleries from 30 countries will take part in Frieze Seoul, with more than 70% of them based in the Asia-Pacific region. Some 50 galleries host permanent exhibitions in Seoul.

From Sept. 3-5, Frieze Seoul will host a series of talks at Coex Studio 159 featuring artists, curators and cultural figures from home and abroad. Kiaf Seoul on Sept. 4 will hold a concert featuring pianist Cho Seong-Jin at Coex Auditorium.

Since 2022, both events have jointly hosted programs in Seoul as the country's two leading art events in fall.
