The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Aug. 27 said this year's Seoul Art Week will run from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6.

Now in its fourth year, the urban art festival connects international events like Kiaf Seoul and Frieze Seoul with museums, galleries and art spaces across the capital. The latest edition will see 159 exhibitions and programs at 141 venues.

The number of participating locations shot up by 34 from 107 last year. Alongside national, public and private museums and galleries, alternative and emerging art spaces will showcase the diversity of the Seoul art scene.

For the first time in the festival's history, the opening event "Opening Night" will be held in the Euljiro area of Jung-gu District. On opening day, 20 visual art spaces in the region will remain open late to show exhibitions, performances and artist talks.

Running concurrently are Kiaf Seoul from Sept. 2-6 and Frieze Seoul from Sept. 2-5 at the convention center Coex in Gangnam-gu District. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung-gu District will also host the festival Seoul Light DDP 2026 Fall, featuring a range of media art programs.
