A domestic low-cost carrier (LCC) is offering a unique flight service without a destination meant to ease the frustration of those unable to fly overseas amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The LCC Air Busan on Aug. 26 said the program will have passengers fly through domestic airspace without a destination and return to the airport of origin. The flight will take off at Gimhae International Airport and fly above Pohang in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Gwangju and Jeju Island before returning to the Gimhae airport.

The flight will take between 90 minutes and two hours, and passengers can enjoy food, entertainment and duty-free shopping while in the air.

Air Busan on Sept. 10 will run a trial flight with colleges offering aviation as a major as part of onsite training. After the pandemic dies down, the carrier plans to offer the flight as a tourist product.

The airline plans to offer a similar flight service that goes through international airspace depending on how the pandemic unfolds.
