March is a time when late winter and early spring coexist on the Korean Peninsula.
This week, heavy snowfall in late winter created hoarfrost on trees on the peak of Balwansan Mountain in Pyeongchang-gun County, Gangwon-do Province.

Meanwhile in the country's southern Jeju Island, the appearance of cherry blossoms heralded the onset of spring, offering a rare opportunity to simultaneously experience both winter and spring.
