An event offers foreign tourists discounts on Hansik (traditional food) and the chance to experience the nation's food delivery culture.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on Oct. 4 announced their launch of "K-Food Promotion" for such visitors until Nov. 30.
For this, 48 participating restaurants in the foreign tourist-heavy Seoul districts of Jongno-gu, Yongsan-gu and Songpa-gu are offering up to 80% off food delivery via the app or website of the domestic travel platform Creatrip (http://creatrip.com/en) for the first 1,500 customers on a first-come, first-served basis.
The package dubbed "Enjoy delivered food at the Hangang River" includes a tent, mat and food to be delivered to experience Korean delivery culture.
Moreover, the forthcoming guide Like a Local―K-Local Gourmet Travel will present the ways millennials and Generation Z in Korea enjoy domestic cuisine. The KTO's official marketing website (www.visitkorea.or.kr) from the end of this month will offer the online publication in English, Japanese, and Chinese.
The KTO said planning of this promotion considered the results of a survey last year on foreign visitors that found "food and gourmet travel" (68%) as the biggest reason for them to visit the country.
