Bibimbap, a dish of rice mixed with meat, vegetables and gochujang (red pepper paste), has the world's most searched-for recipe this year on Google.

The global web portal giant on Dec. 13 announced its "Year in Search" results with bibimbap topping the recipe category.

Though not a ranking of absolute search volume, "Year in Search" lists the top 10 words most frequently searched for by users worldwide from the previous year in categories such as songs, recipes and meanings based on terms with a surge in search volume.

Second in the recipe category was espetus (smoked and skewered herring) of Spain and papeda (traditional porridge) of Indonesia came in third.

By region, India had the most searches for bibimbap, followed by Singapore, Sweden, the Philippines and Malaysia.

In the song category, "Cupid" by K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY ranked fifth and "Seven" by BTS member Jungkook 10th. In TV series, "King the Land" was sixth and "The Glory" seventh.

To mark its 25th birthday, Google Search also unveiled a video celebrating the most searched figures and moments over the past quarter century. The clip features soccer star Son Heung-min and K-pop sensations BTS and BLACKPINK to highlight the sports, boy band and girl group categories, respectively.
