The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism between March and May will hold a large-scale nationwide event for domestic travel through generous discounts.
The ministry on Feb. 27 announced the launch of the Spring Travel Campaign jointly with the Korea Tourism Organization.
A combined 300,000 vouchers to be distributed next month will offer KRW 20,000-KRW 30,000 off accommodations outside the Greater Seoul region. Discounts of 30%-50% will go toward the high-speed rail KTX and tourism trains, complemented by passes for youth and rental cars.
In April, Korea Dulle Trail Walking Week will connect 4,500 km of the country's outer perimeter. Those who finish the course receive subsidies such as those for achieving a healthy lifestyle or sport activity incentives.
Named as a month for going to sea, May will see the Marine Tourism Campaign and the Night Tourism Festa. A discount of KRW 20,000-KRW 30,000 will be offered at 79 coastal lodging places, 30% off for marine leisure experiences such as yachting, surfing or kayaking, and other specials for sea tourism packages.
The country's 10 cities specializing in night tourism will host the Night Tourism Festa: Incheon; Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do Province; Busan; Daejeon; Gangneung, Gangwon-do Province; Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do Province; Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do; Seongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province; Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do Province; and Yeosu, Jeollanam-do Province.
Each of the 10 cities will also host "candlelight performances" and differentiated night tours.
