Naver, the country's leading domestic web search portal, on April 14 said its "Be Local" campaign through May 13 highlights can't-miss spots in Seoul for foreign tourists through the portal's map service.

A foreign language setting on Naver Map allows users to click the "Be Local" tab on the app for one-stop information on frequented spots like popular restaurants, cafes and complex cultural spaces in trendy Seoul neighborhoods like Myeong-dong, Seongsu, Itaewon and Hannam-dong.

Discount vouchers and goods are also offered by partner companies such as the beauty chain Olive Young, cosmetics brand Innisfree and fashion seller Musinsa.

Since launching English-, Chinese- and Japanese-language versions in 2018, Naver Map offers a service based on artificial intelligence to translate Korean-language reviews of tourist attractions and restaurants as well as search functions.

Its user guide released in December last year gives instructions on using the map service in English, Chinese and Japanese.

Naver also announced plans to improve Naver Pay in the first half of this year so that foreign users can more conveniently access services such as making reservations, orders and payments.
