The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Incheon International Airport Corp. on May 29 announced the addition of a location for Easy Drop, a luggage check-in service in regions outside airports.
The latest branch is on the second floor of City Air Logistics & Transportation (CALT) by Samseong Station in Seoul's Gangnam-gu District.
Easy Drop allows a user to receive a boarding pass and check in baggage at a CALT office in a city before a flight.
Passengers can directly enter a departure hall at Incheon International Airport without a separate check-in procedure. Their checked luggage is sent to the airport at their overseas destination.
The new branch is the fifth after those at Hongik University Station, Myeongdong Station, Incheon Inspire Resort and Paradise City Hotel.
The Samseong Station branch is Easy Drop's fifth after Hongik University Station, Myeongdong Station, Incheon Inspire Resort and Paradise City Hotel. Passengers of international flights of Korean Air, Asiana, Jeju Air and T'way can use the service, while those of Jin Air can use it from June 1.
Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays except Wednesdays and national holidays. Baggage pickup is twice a day (10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.), and users can take a limousine bus to the Incheon airport from a CALT branch after checking in their luggage (bus fare extra).
Discounts through Aug. 31 will mark the opening of the Samseong Station branch. The fee for general customers over the period is KRW 25,000 instead of the regular KRW 35,000, and that for parties of two more KRW 20,000 each.
A user whose birthday is between June and August qualifies for a 50% discount.
In addition, the ministry plans to launch the service Home Drop to allow users to directly check in and have their luggage delivered to their homes or accommodations.
