Gyeranppang (egg bread), one of the country's most popular street foods in winter, has been named by CNN as one of the world's top 50 breads.
In the articled headlined "50 of the world's best breads" on Oct. 18, the U.S. news service said, "There's buried treasure within every load of gyeran-ppang, individually sized wheat breads with a whole egg baked inside."
"The addition of ham, cheese and chopped parsley adds a savory twist to the sweet-and-salty treat, a belly-warming snack that keeps South Korea fueled through the country's long winters."
The treat was joined by other famous counterparts worldwide like France's baguette; Italy's ciabatta; Japan's curry bread; the U.S.' biscuits; Armenia's lavash; Bangladesh's luchi; and Brazil's pao de queijo.
