A promotional event seeks to introduce 10 leading international festivals in the country.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on June 19 announced their hosting of the Global K-Festival Pop-up through July 5 at Seoul Station and the capital's shopping neighborhood of Myeong-dong. This event introduces six "global" and four "prospective global" festivals to domestic and foreign tourists and encourages more visits.

The six global galas are the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival, Incheon Pentaport Music Festival, Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, Boryeong Mud Festival, Andong Maskdance Festival and Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival. The four prospective events are the Daegu Chimac (Chicken and Beer) Festival, Busan International Rock Festival, Sunchang Fermented Food Festival and Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival.

Under the slogan "Feel the Vibe, Live the Festival," the event is designed like a movie theater. For foreign visitors, multilingual staff are stationed on-site.

Visitors check the locations and main programs of the global festivals on a schedule akin to that of a movie theater. By entering their name, nationality and other information and selecting their preferred movie genres, users get recommended a global festival that match their preferences and a customized movie ticket based on the results.

To attract more foreign visitors, a photo booth experience featuring the "Life 4 Cuts" style is offered against the backdrop of a global festival. Visitors who complete all activities are entered in a lottery to win souvenirs and discount coupons at their respective events.
