After a long wait, the successful movie “Train to Busan” will be in Argentine theaters this January. The premiere was rescheduled a couple of times. The original launch date was in late December, but the film debut was moved to the second week of January. It opened in Argentine theaters on Jan. 12, 2017.
The release of Asian movies, in particular Korean movies, isn’t very common in Argentina. As a result, many Argentines feel a bit apprehensive since we're not familiar with them. However, because this film is expected to be a big hit here, people expect it to prove the great value of Korean cinematography.
Zombies movies are very popular among horror film lovers, but it's becoming very difficult to offer something new in that genre. “Train to Busan,” or its Spanish title “Invasión Zombie,” wants to make an interesting twist on that. The whole action sequence takes place inside a train and there's nowhere to escape, since the virus epidemic progresses so quickly while the passengers make it impossible to survive. The decisions they make can change everyone's lives.
The pre-screening was on Jan. 4. It was a special screening only for the press and for a few of lucky winners who won tickets through a promotional contest.
Argentine fans of Korean telenovelas are extremely excited because of the main actor, Gong Yoo. He's best known for his role in “Coffee Prince” (2007). That soap opera aired two years ago on a cable channel that's famous among K-drama lovers who are on the hunt for classic and current Korean soap operas.
I´m hoping Argentine viewers support this movie and fill all the seats so as to make possible the arrival of more Koreans movies to our theaters.
