“Save the best for last.” That's the first thing that came to mind as soon as I saw the cherry blossoms in full bloom at Gyeongju’s Bulguksa Temple.

Bulguksa Temple is a world cultural asset that was built in the year 528 during the 15th year of the reign of King Beopheung (r. 514-540) (법흥왕, 法興王) of Silla. It's one of the most popular tourist attractions in Gyeongju.

In mid- to late-April, the cherry blossoms along the path leading to the temple gate are all in bloom. The bright pink and white blossoms attract even more visitors, which consists of tourists from around the world, photographers, and even locals. Couples and families enjoy taking photos with and of the flowers. Some bring picnic mats and take a nap or to read a book under the shade of the cherry blossom trees in full bloom. Laughter and giggles of children happily playing with their parents can be heard all over the place. It's as if everyone has taken a happy pill. Happy faces and beautiful flowers sure look good together.

Pink and white cherry blossoms adorn Bulguksa Temple with their beautiful colors.

Cherry blossoms are one of my favorite spring flowers. I always enjoy taking photos of them and admire their simple yet attractive beauty.

Since some cherry blossoms bloom after other cherry blossoms are gone, I consider these final blowers to be the real cherry blossom ending (벚꽃 엔딩), or the cherry blossom grand finale. It’s like they were truly made to bloom last so that the cherry blossom season can have a memorable ending. Indeed, nature saves the best for last.
