After Sofia, Burgas (the largest city in Southeast Bulgaria and the second largest on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast) is the second city that welcomes the Korean language in schools. From Oct. 15, 36 fifth-graders started studying the Korean language.

Also to come is the introduction of Korean language classes in the Vocational High School of Computer Programming and Innovation in Meden Rudnik.

Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and the Korean Ambassador in Bulgaria, His Excellency Jung Jingue, spoke at the opening of the Korean language classes at the Alexander Georgiev Kodakafaliyat primary school.

"First of all, I would like to thank His Excellency for responding to the invitation of the Municipality of Burgas, so that children from the 1st to the 12th grade, who are interested, will be able to study Korean language in several schools in Burgas. We are already negotiating with the Korean Embassy, which will have to provide us with another lecturer during this school year, and today is the first day when a school in Burgas starts providing Korean," said Mayor Nikolov.

"I would like to thank Dimitar Nikolov for providing the chance for the children of Bourgas to study Korean, so we will be enriched by the knowledge of both countries. I hope that you will study our language very diligently, and when we meet again next year, we can also say a few words in Korean," added His Excellency Jung Jingue.
