"It is the inspiration of the Olympic Games that drives people not only to compete but to improve, and to bring lasting spiritual and moral benefits to the athlete and inspiration to those lucky enough to witness the athletic dedication." — Herb Elliott, Australian Olympic champion.

Korea on Feb. 9 celebrated the first anniversary of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics in a festival. Last year's tournament is also known as the Peace Olympics as it continues to promote peace and togetherness and cultivate friendlier relations between South and North Korea. When the athletes of the two nations marched into the stadium together and cheered as one, it proved anything is possible.

Dubbed "Again PyeongChang," the festival brought back memories of the Olympics, weaving together the narratives of the nations, Olympians and participants through various events held in Seoul and the Olympic venue. The month-long celebration is full of events and festivities that harmonizes with Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day.

The festival is not only a celebration but also an invitation to everyone to join the cause of promoting peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula to spread unity, volunteerism and humanity across the region and the world. Those unable to make it to the festival venues still show their love, cooperation and support through personal stories, photos, videos, memories that inspire and warm greetings via social media.

The glittery ceremony kicked off at Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium, with cultural performances and a huge K-pop concert held at Gangneung Ice Arena.

In Seoul, an exhibition and other events were hosted by Seoul Olympic Park featuring Soohorang and Bandabi, the two mascots of last year's Olympics. Both performed a curling demonstration and were joined by enthusiasts of the sport under the warm winter sun on a beautiful day.

In late afternoon, a fashion show dazzled the crowd and painted the dome with vivid colors and creative designs. Artists showcased their cultural and traditional creations and talents while others impressed with their avant-garde collections.

Later in the evening, the audience moved to KSPO Dome at Seoul Olympic Park for a magnificent winter concert performed by an orchestra. The vibrant performance was classically infused and emotionally charged with a whimsical storyline.

Outside the dome, the celebration continued as people exited the venue, with the orchestra still playing while the audience walked out of the stadium. What made the chilly evening even more amazing and heartwarming were the reunions of groups of volunteers who helped ensure the success of the PyeongChang Olympics.
