John Bokiev Having lived in Korea for almost four years, I always seek to explore undiscovered parts of this land through weekend trips. This time, my Russian friend and I traveled to a southern city that Koreans call the birthplace of the country's democratic movements: Gwangju. I had visited this city twice before, but this time, I went to see the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships.
We took the KTX bullet train from Seoul Station and arrived at our destination two hours later.
From Gwangju Songjeong Station, we took a free shuttle bus to the main competition venues.

My friend and I headed to the venue for diving and swimming competitions after the water polo events ended, and got this awesome view.
Ticket prices differed based on seat and category. At the venue for swimming and diving, I was proud to find my country’s three national colors.
