The Korean people are known for their spirit to keep fighting for a better life. The Korean Peninsula was under indirect Chinese rule for centuries, and the Japanese in 1910 annexed the peninsula. After national liberation in 1945, the Korean War broke out in 1950. Because of such continuous invasions and wars, the Korean people were exploited and thus suffered from poverty throughout their long and tragic history.
Despite being poverty stricken, Koreans maintained a strong will to survive and advance. Lack of opportunities did not stop them from working hard and or doing any kind of labor. They made the impossible possible by building a nation that joined the ranks of the world's most developed in a short time.
