The Korean Cultural Center in New Delhi through Feb. 28 is hosting the exhibition "Confluence: Beyond Boundaries" featuring the works of artists Jang Hee Mun of Korea and Devendra Shukla of India, both of whom have worked in India over the past two decades.
This exhibition unveils a body of work embodying the energy of the two Asian cultures and the people and the borders surrounding them. Comprising paintings, sculptures and installation art, "Confluence" is a close look at and exploration of the common elements that have gone into the making of both Korean and Indian cultures.
Throughout their respective histories, the two nations have experienced tragedies and hardships because of national division. The exhibition thus focuses on the common journeys and trajectories of their cultures and traditions, with the works displayed seeking to evoke inclusive thought that goes beyond boundaries and celebrates life with peace and unity.
Both artists seem to have commonalities in their works, and the dialogue created through their pieces marks the confluence of two creative minds achieving harmony despite the inherent differences in their respective cultures and traditions.
