The main attraction of spring in Korea is cherry blossoms, and festivals highlighting them are a tradition here. White-pink flowers on the bushes are as attractive as the flowers. Cherry blossoms here appear from mid-March to early May, and the period ends quicker when it rains.

In Korea, spring falls in March, April and May. Offering a gentle breeze and warm weather with the beautiful blossoms, spring is the best time to visit Korea. Mid-March to early April is the season when many international visitors as well as locals go see the fascinating scenery created by spring flowers.

Though peaks differ depending on flower, most spring blossoms usually last up to 10 days after they first bloom. So check weather forecasts first before planning to see the flowers to not miss out on incredible spring colors in Korea.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a series of blossom festivals that symbolize the onset of spring in Korea have been canceled this year. The city government of Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, said last week that it will cancel the annual Jinhae Gunhangje (Cherry Blossom) Festival, which was slated to start on March 27.

This was the first cancellation of the festival in its 58-year history. Featuring blooming cherry trees in the city and a string of military ceremonies hosted by the Republic of Korea Navy's naval base in Jinhae, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, the event draws up to four million visitors from home and abroad every year.
