Suncheonman Bay is a coastal saltwater wetland located in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do Province. The protected bay offers many sites for visitors, with the most famous being the bay's National Garden and Wetland Reserve.
The garden covers a vast plot spanning 1.11 square km and houses over 505 species of trees and 113 of flowers. The world-famous tulips and royal azaleas there decorate the premises and are even more impressive in May, when bright yellow canola are in full bloom. Many families and couples can be seen at the garden thanks to its reputation as a "wellness spot." The diversity of the trees and flowers in the garden, combined with the many colorful structures, create a welcoming atmosphere. People can easily get lost amid the garden's 55 units, each of which has its own theme. Many of the units are themed by country. A pagoda sits atop a hill at the Chinese Garden, while a large windmill highlights the Dutch Garden, both of which are popular photo spots. The Garden of Dreams features colorful Hangeul characters and cute little drawings of children on the walls. After a long day of walking, head to a facility within the garden for a traditional foot massage along with a refreshing cup of tea. Many restaurants also offer warm meals.
Expect even more natural beauty at the wetlands. The self-driving shuttle Skycube connects the garden to the wetlands, a well-preserved natural coastline rich in biodiversity as well as an animal sanctuary, especially for migratory birds. A beautiful tunnel is the entrance to this wonderland of nature. The backdrop of the surrounding mountains and clear skies completes the natural landscape. Because of their beauty, the wetlands are among Recommended Wellness Spots of Korea. Feel the therapeutic effect behind the simple act of walking along a wooden path surrounded by reed fields. During fall and winter, the reeds also turn golden brown. When the wind blows, hearing the rustling leaves and seeing them sway in synchronous motion drive stress away
