Korea on Oct. 3 marked National Foundation Day.

In the Philippines, this occasion is normally celebrated with a reception but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Korean Embassy in the Philippines instead presented the "K-healing package" for Filipinos.

This year's package featured the items shown below.

K-Healing Package from the Korean Embassy in the Philippines

The first snack I got was Capt. Lee's noodles from the K-drama "Crash Landing on You." The second one was ssamjang, a thick and spicy paste used as dipping sauce and often seen in dramas like "Hospital Playlist." I also got "chapagetti" and "neoguri" to make "ramdon" from last year's blockbuster film "Parasite" by director Bong Joon-ho.

The package had Banana Kick, the favorite snack of BTS member Jungkook, and Yopokii (spicy rice cake) and honey almond, the favorite snacks of Filipinos. Also, I got instant coffee to use in making dalgona coffee and a vitamin drink.

The box had a mask holder with symbolic flowers representing the national flowers of Korea (mugunghwa) and the Philippines (sampaguita), a special thank-you card written in Korean and Tagalog, and a letter from Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-man.
