Stuck at home and constantly scrolling down the pages of my feed, I encountered an ad for Korean content creators around the world from the K-influencer Academy on the Facebook page of Korea Clickers.

At the time, I was a budding content creator with the name "K-Style" on Facebook and YouTube. I was a bit hesitant with just 100 subscribers on YouTube and 500 on my Facebook page, which focuses on my feelings on Korea and K-drama. What changed my perspective was that the academy didn't mind these numbers as long as an applicant's video showed his or her fondness for Korea.

I was named one of the best K-influencers last year.

Last year, I was named one of the top five K-influencers from among over 500 who joined the program. My channel now has more than 100,000 views and 1,108 subscribers and my Facebook page has 10,000 followers. So how did this happen? This is part of my journey with the academy

This is me in last year's K-Healing On Festival on Korea.net's YouTube channel.

Missions
Last year, we practiced having weekly missions like discussing topics similar to word prompts to help create ideas for videos. The topics include how people got to know Korean culture and  food, the Korea of old and new, and how to promote one's favorite aspect of Korean culture to the world. In addition, a K-influencer can appear on the show "Up and Down" hosted by YouTube influencers like Edward Avila and Sissel.

I appeared on an episode of "K-word Chain Challenge."

Features and collaborations
A participant in the program can get the chance to appear on a Korea.net show. I was on "K-word Chain Challenge" on Korea.net's main YouTube channel. Those deemed outstanding got the opportunity to collaborate with or be mentored by major Hallyu YouTubers like Q2Han, Lisa Rhee and World of Dave.

My YouTube channel is all about my love for Korea and Hallyu.

Workshops and consultations
To help Korean content creators grow, Korea.net has held numerous workshop videos in the formats of an online video series or a Zoom meeting. Check out the YouTube channel of the K-influencer Academy to learn more. Other benefits include consulting on developing a YouTube channel, production and design support, mentorship from creators, and the chance to appear on Korea.net and win a trip to Korea for the top K-influencer.

So are you the next K-influencer? Sign up, shoot your first video and express your fondness for Korea. I hope to meet you online soon.
