The annual Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival in Seoul is one of the best events for seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms that come every spring. Because of COVID-19, access to Seokchon Lake Park is banned at this time. The paths around the lake are closed except for in the early morning for those going to work.

The following are photos and descriptions of a previous visit of mine to the event.

Introduction

The festival is usually held on the first and second week of April and serves as a popular dating place in spring. The many activities offered when I last went there included a mini-concert, busking performances, singing contests, interactive programs and activity booths.

What to see
Even at night, the pink colors of cherry blossoms in full bloom captivated the eyes. The trees surrounding the lake made a long walk mandatory to see all of the flowers. The flower and art installations were also great for taking photos.

Seokchon Lake Park had many spots great for photo ops.

LED lights around the area were lit at night and others highlighted the trees with ever-changing colors.

The LED lights along the lake featured constantly changing colors.

The festival was held around the lake surrounding the theme park Lotte World, so visitors got to enjoy the rides and other amusement activities there while seeing cherry blossoms.

The theme park Lotte World looked fabulous at night along with cherry blossoms.

Moreover, a nice view awaited of the famous Lotte World Tower, Korea's tallest building, from the lake. An area of the lake was also prime for taking photos with the tower in the background.

Lotte World Tower is Korea's tallest building.

The many activity booths around the lake included those for getting caricatures or portraits.

Portrait and other activity booths were plentiful at the festival.
