The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Jakarta on April 16 teamed up with CJ CGV Cinemas Indonesia to screen the Oscar-nominated Korean film "Minari" at the multiplex's Grand Indonesia branch.
Attending the screening were KCC staff, the Indonesian media, students at King Sejong Institute, which offers classes in the Korean language and culture, Korea.net Honorary Reporters in Indonesia and the Hallyu Indonesian fan community Sahabat Korea. Per social distancing rules, the theater was limited to 50 viewers, or half its seating capacity.

The indie film was inspired by the life of its Korean American director, Lee Isaac Chung.

The movie has won a slew of major awards including those of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the U.S.-based Screen Actors Guild, and is nominated for six Oscars.
Commercial screening of "Minari" in Indonesia began on April 21.
