I participated in an online gathering of Honorary Reporters on Aug. 27 and got to meet fellow Honorary Reporters and the two Korea.net coordinators of the program. I found the event useful, informative and super fun and hope for another soon. The following are highlights from the gathering.
A workshop on article writing by Honorary Reporter Alaa Atef from Egypt was quite helpful with many tips. It was also easy to understand and will surely help new Honorary Reporters this year.
The second workshop was on "How to use Talk Talk Korea website right" by Honorary Reporter Laura Lopez Velazquez from Mexico. I'd always wondered how to put the YouTube link and learned thanks to this workshop.
A Q&A session with Honorary Reporter coordinators Enny Kim and Kal Hong basically answered most question during this session. A common question asked by Honorary Reporters is how to credit a copyrighted photo, and the answer is to ask permission from the owner of the photo even if it's from social media.
The quiz session "Guess Who" was hilarious. The first quiz was about K-pop stars, and I was amazed at how all Honorary Reporters could quickly name the person in the puzzle face game.
The last quiz had me taking a selfie with the two coordinators and uploading it on the Facebook group for Honorary Reporters. The winner was the person who uploaded his or her photo the fastest. I didn't win but it was fun.
Finally, Korea.net announced "September missions." The first is only for Honorary Reporters who participated in the online gathering and they must work with fellow reporters in their home countries.
The second mission requires working in a group to create a literary magazine, either with Honorary Reporters from the same country or another. The theme of a group can be anything related to Korea and content can be an essay, poem, novel, critical review or journal, along with photos and illustrations.
