The Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java on Oct. 21 implemented an innovative idea to have soldiers dressed in pink guard uniforms from the Netflix smash series "Squid Game" to proctor a civil service exam.

The soldiers were from five supervisory committees tasked with monitoring the test.

Millions of Indonesians take such exams in the hope of joining the public sector. A variety of positions are available at ministries and divisions, but the number of vacancies is limited.

The limited number of jobs causes exam takers to study hard for the exam, and the testing facilities require full compliance with health protocols amid COVID-19.

I also took the exam to enter the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, but thankfully, I wasn't confronted by guards with pink uniforms. Nonetheless, I applaud the creative effort of the ministry in East Java.

The video below is a YouTube clip of the "Squid Game" theme of the Education Ministry's civil service exam.
