President Moon Jae-in and first lady Kim Jung-sook on Oct. 31 arrived in the U.K. to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) summit. As the second leg of his European visit, the president on Nov. 1 gave a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.
His most important message was urging global cooperation to save the planet and taking immediate and effective actions to respond to climate change.
I was curious if his message reached young people in the U.K. To celebrate COP26, my school organized "green programs" so I held discussions with my students to gauge their opinions.
My students gave their opinions on the green messages of President Moon and BLACKPINK.
On COP26, all students expressed their optimism for the future and their hope that other leaders will follow what President Moon pledged.
"I respect President Moon because he cares about us, the future generation. Having a regular youth climate summit would be amazing. I would want to send in my ideas and suggestions for sustainability," one student said."
Another added, "I've realized that I am also responsible for my future. It's not too late to take action. I can also help save our planet. BLACKPINK's message is very powerful."
