The Hallyu boom worldwide has drawn more global attention to traditional Korean games, one of which is jegichagi, in which a shuttlecock (jegi) is kicked to keep it from touching the ground. This is often featured on Korean TV shows.

Indonesia since 2003 has also celebrated Lunar New Year, which is called Imlek. Because my country doesn't have a game like jegichagi, I decided to create my own jegi to play the game.

Materials
Two coins, bottlecaps, light and sturdy paper, scissors, paper tape and rubber band

These are the materials I used to make a jegi (shuttlecock).

Process
1. Stick the two coins together with tape.
2. Put the coins inside a bottlecap.
3. Decorate the jegi with colored papers.
4. Fold each side of a paper so that they meet on top of the coins.
5. Tie both sides of a paper with a rubber band.
6. Cut each strip and separate them so that air can pass.

Playing
I didn't want to play this game alone, so I invited friends to join me. It was difficult to kick the jegi because we never knew which direction it would fly. But in the end, I won.

I highly recommend this game to complement a Lunar New Year celebration.
