K-pop sensation BTS on March 13 wrapped up its three-part "Permission To Dance On Stage -- Seoul" concerts, with the event the day before being livestreamed at cinemas around the world in parallel with a live concert in Seoul. This impressive idea received a positive response from BTS fans.
The following are the thoughts of three of the 15 BTS fans in seven countries I asked on their impressions of the concert.
Isabella Piscitelli from Italy, a two-year resident of Seoul, attended the concert in person. She said it was an exciting experience and her fellow fans shared the same enthusiasm and gave out gifts or small souvenirs. The concert atmosphere, however, was different from the past due to regulations on COVID-19, she added. "It was tough to interact with other fans at the venue because of the restrictions," she said. "I was sad because we couldn't sing along or scream. We showed support with our Army bombs and clappers."
Just like other fans, Piscitelli said she felt a lot of emotions during the concert and burst into tears while listening to the song "Blue and Gray." Her favorite part was when the group got on an orange cart and came closer to the audience. "They were very interactive with the fans. Seeing them talking with the fans, they made me feel like I was part of a big family," she said.
Elsewhere, fans from other parts of the world enjoyed the concert via livestreaming at movie theaters to create a similar concert-like vibe. Tsisija Gurova from Latvia said the organizers in her country had to use an additional theater for the screening because the number of visitors exceeded capacity.
Katya Tavi from Finland described seeing the concert at a theater as "a unique experience." With the ticket price a few EUR higher than that for a regular movie in her country, she said she got a lot more. "The idea was brilliant. The visual and sound quality was professional and the energy throughout the show made me feel like I was part of the event, though I wasn't there physically."
