Korea is a destination with beautiful, natural and architectural landscapes. As a photographer, I love to capture a slice of daily life, landscapes, famous buildings and historical sites in a country. And I consider Korea one of the most photogenic nations I've visited.
Based on my experience of taking photos in Korea in 2016 and 2018, here are the five reasons I think Korea is heaven for photographers.
Pedestrians in July 2018 cross the street at Sungnyemun Gate in Seoul.
Landmarks
Korea is home to many stunning historical and contemporary landmarks, and among those I visited in Seoul are Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun Square, Sungnyemun Gate, Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Namsan Tower. When in Seoul, do not miss these instantly recognizable and awe-inspiring landmarks in the capital.

Streets
While wandering around Seoul, I had my camera ready to shoot since there was always something interesting. For example, the Mangwon-dong and Hongdae areas are full of youthful ambience, beautiful cafes and street buskers, making it a prime spot for street photography. Other great locations for street snaps are the Insa-dong neighborhood and Namdaemun Market.
The Myeongdong area of Seoul in November 2016 has many street food vendors.
Food
Visiting the Myeong-dong area of Seoul was one of my best experiences when taking pictures of the capital. This place is full of stores selling all kinds of things as well as many street vendors hawking delicious Korean food. At night, the scene comes alive with noise and color. This to me is the perfect place to take great shots of Korean street food and capture the vibe of a Korean market.

Architecture
Seoul has amazing architecture, both traditional and cutting-edge contemporary. My favorite experience was taking photos of the stunning and futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, which resembles something from another world. Seoul is basically a stomping ground for adventurous photographers and definitely a destination for those keen on architectural photography.
Hyangwonjeong Pavilion in November 2016 sports a beautiful landscape in downtown Seoul.
Landscape
Finding stunning landscapes in Korea is no problem, even in downtown Seoul. I love this photo I took of Hyangwonjeong Pavilion and Chwihyanggyo Bridge over a water lily-filled lake at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. This location is beautiful in every season.
