Sri Lanka has many Korea-related events. This time, Hallyu was the focus of a quiz contest organized by the Rotaract Clubs, part of a global movement for young professionals and encompassing services like those of community, club, professional development, international and the environment. The organization arranges programs each year and decided to include a Hallyu-themed event this year.
Under a joint initiative by the clubs of the Royal Institute of Colombo and University of Colombo Faculty of Arts, a virtual quiz based on the entertainment culture of Korea and Japan dubbed "Seoul2Tokyo" was held last month. The contest from April 15-17 required a four-member team and was an opportunity to test my knowledge of Korea. So three friends and I applied for the event with the team name "Quizzly Bears."

Round 1
The first round on April 15 had each team member answering a quiz based on a video with interesting facts from both cultures. From those on tradition to economy, a lot of information on Korea was presented. My team eventually advanced to the semifinals.
Round 2
Round 2 on April 16 was a trivia quiz with questions on K-pop, K-dramas and animation within a minute. The questions were deceptively hard as they were focused on in-depth facts about Hallyu. Yet my team's dedication to and love for K-pop and K-dramas helped us answer all the questions right and finish first in this round.
Round 3
The third and final round on April 17 comprised challenging puzzles and quizzes to find code words to win the game. Contestants had to find such words in a K-pop crossword puzzle and one in jigsaw format about K-dramas. My team quickly solved the puzzles but couldn't find the code word aegyo (acting cute) on time. Despite coming up short, our team did great in solving the puzzles.
These are the crossword and K-drama jigsaw puzzles that my team had to solve during the event.
Despite not winning, my friends and I found it exciting to participate in the quiz contest and meet people with similar interests.
