This year in April, I received a bojagi, or traditional Korean wrapping cloth, as a present from the Korean organization, Indonesia. In earlier times, the cloth was made from leftover textiles to wrap all sorts of things like gifts, food, groceries and books.

This square-shaped cloth is commonly made from silk or ramie and features an array of colors because of the range of colors in the materials used. But one kind of bojagi -- the one I received -- is a double-sided version with different colors on each side.

My bojagi consists of two colors.

Besides being attracted to bojagi's artistic designs and patterns, I also found appealing the technique of tying or wrapping the pretty knot. There are many shapes to tie it like a hydrangea flower, rose or braided hair.

This cloth features knots shaped like a hydrangea flower.

This article explains how to tie a bojagi in the simplest way. All you need is a bojagi or a perfectly square-shaped cloth and stuff to carry in it. Just follow the instructions in the pictures.

Bojagi is highly recommended as it is easy to use and firm enough to wrap things. Its pretty color also makes it fashionable.
