Korea on July 31 was featured at the first Cultural Expo in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), organized by the Language Society at Concept Plus in Al Quoz. UAE-based language clubs and organizations helped host the event to show the best of 20 countries. The Emirati Korean Group (TEKA) arranged the Korean booth.

The lively booth featured Korean calligraphy with names written in Hangeul. The K-pop section had albums and accessories as well as Polaroid photos and beautiful Hanbok. Visitors also played traditional Korean games like jegichagi (kicking a shuttlecock) and tuho (pitch-pot). The winners received goodie bags of Korean snacks and more.

"Whether visitors are Hallyu fans or unfamiliar with Korean culture, this type of event will open their eyes to new and entertaining aspects of Korean culture," she said in an interview. "It can enrich mutual understanding by offering creative programs, workshops and opportunities that suit their interest and are entertaining, informative and inspiring.

"The richness and uniqueness of (Korean) culture, arts and music are so captivating. Because Korean culture never gets boring, it always has new creative and fun programs, trends, challenges and things to explore and learn about. It brings so much joy and positive vibes to my life, especially with the stress of work and other responsibilities."
