To mark Korea's National Foundation Day, designer Lee Seoyoun held a fashion show on Oct. 4 at Sheraton Ankara Hotel and Convention Center in Ankara, Turkey, attesting to the spread of global interest in Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) to Turkey.

In his opening speech, Korean Ambassador to Turkey Lee Won Ik said this year marks the 65th anniversary of bilateral relations and 10th anniversary of the two countries' strategic relationship. "We want participants to understand Korean culture better through this fashion show," he said.

The opening performance was a cover of a BTS number by the winner of this year's K-pop World Festival Aesira, who heated up the atmosphere before the show.

During the main event, designer Lee presented fusion Hanbok outfits combining tradition and modernism with traditional Korean dance and music on stage. Many young people participated in the show as a volunteer models.

The fashion show featured performances of traditional Korean dance and music.

A variety of Hanbok was displayed in the show, from those that dazzled the audience at first sight to others worn daily. Most impressive were Hanbok designs featuring vivid colors. Turkish youth interested in Korea and Korean culture also had the chance to volunteer and wear Hanbok after the show. Thus the show ended under a mood of closer ties between the two countries.
