The photo exhibition "The Beauty of Korea" on Oct. 10 was opened at Sofia Metropolitan Library in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. Organized by the Korean Embassy there in cooperation with the library's Korea Corner, the event was held to mark Korea's National Foundation Day (Oct. 3) and Hangeul Day (Oct. 9).
The library in 2015 opened the corner as a space for books, study materials and CDs on Korean history, culture, literature, economy, movies and music.
Korean Ambassador to Bulgaria Lee Ho-shik and the library's deputy chief Marchela Borisova, each gave introductory speeches highlighting the longstanding cooperation between the two countries.
Attending the event were students from Bulgarian schools offering Korean-language education, collegians majoring in Korean or Asian studies at Sofia University and others.

Twenty-five photos featuring Korean architectural heritage as shown in cultural monuments and popular tourist spots were displayed, as well as pictures of Korean nature in varying seasons and brief information about the sights.
At the exhibition I recognized many of the places in the photos not only from movies and TV shows, but also from personal experience. In 2018, I visited Seoul and Pyeongchang-gun County, Gangwon-do Province, at the invitation of Korea.net to attend the annual induction ceremony for Honorary Reporters. I was proud to share with friends at the exhibition interesting facts I learned about Korea during my trip.

The second part of the event had visitors go to Korea Corner for programs.
Ending on Oct. 20, the exhibition was free and open to anyone interested in Korea and Korean culture.
