Prince Loyd C. Besorio, aka Francine, is a Philippine civil engineering student who is a big fan of Korean culture. Her interest in Hallyu began in elementary school with the K-pop girl group 2NE1 and prompted her to learn Korean from an early age.

Since 2016, she has participated in Hallyu content contests such as Talk Talk Korea. This year, she won grand prizes in three major competitions through her photography. In a written interview on Dec. 21, she discussed her experience in competing in such events.

This photo dubbed "Play with Me: Relating Filipino-Korean Traditional Games" won the traditional game category in this year's Talk Talk Korea contest.

What inspired you to take these photographs?
I try to incorporate my Philippine identity into my photos while expressing my love for Korean culture. Korea and the Philippines have many similarities in lifestyle, superstitions and traditions, and this relatability is why I believe Hallyu is so popular in my country.

"Friends Forever" won the grand prize at this year's "Hangeul I Met" photography contest.

What is your advice for those wishing to compete in Hallyu content competitions?
Just enjoy and love what you do. It's important to show genuine enjoyment of Korean culture rather than pressuring yourself to win. Express your authentic self and tell your own story. Use people as subjects in photo competitions so that your entries show emotion and a story.

This photo called "Jeogo Reels" won the grand prize at this year's K-community Festival Competition in the Hanbok category.

What have you learned from Hallyu competitions?

The greatest lesson I've learned is to never give up on something I truly love. With a specific goal and a passionate heart, I believe you can achieve anything. I also thank Korea for helping me grow into the person I am today.
