2023 is the Year of the Black Rabbit under the Asian zodiac. To mark this occasion over Seollal (Lunar New Year), the annual holiday falling from Jan. 21-24 this year, Seoul has been decorated with vivid statues and lanterns of the furry creature.

This photo taken on Dec. 26 last year is of the giant rabbit lantern located at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

In my opinion, the most impressive of these decorations is the giant rabbit lantern at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square that holds a red bokjumeoni (traditional lucky pouch). The work is part of the display for last year's Seoul Lantern Festival, which opened last month.

This media artwork captured on Jan. 17 is also displayed at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square.

This photo taken on Dec. 30 shows rabbit lanterns around a shiny moon at Seoul's Oil Tank Culture Park.

Balloons of a rabbit and a tiger on Jan. 9 decorate the front of Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul.

Korea's second-largest city of Busan also has a huge rabbit lantern to welcome visitors.

This photo of a rabbit lantern at Songjeong Beach in Busan was taken on Jan. 11.
