As part of welcoming the opening of the K-Influencer Academy 2023, I interviewed Marcellina and Anastasia from Indonesia who were among the Top 5 Best K-Influencers 2022. Marcellina and Anastasia were named Indonesia’s representative K-Influencers, receiving an award at the K-influencer Award Ceremony as part of the K-Wave Festival 2022 held last December by Korea.net at the Kintex in Ilsan.

The following are excerpts from an online interview conducted with Marcellina from Miles and Cals on Feb. 21 via Whatsapp.

"Hello! We are Marcellina and Anastasia from Indonesia. We are the people who operate our YouTube channel 'Miles and Cals.' Greetings to all friends!" (Marcellina and Anastasia). Marcellina and Anastasia who are better known – and also famous – as Miles and Cals joined the K-Influencer Academy in 2021. I asked them what it was like receiving an award. 

"Of course, we are very grateful to have family and friends from various parts of the world who continue to support us sincerely. Being able to represent Indonesia at the awards ceremony held in Korea last December, was really a dream come true. By the time we received the announcement that we were voted into the Top 5 Best K-influencers 2022 and invited to receive the award live in Korea, we were so shocked that we burst into tears."

Tips for Becoming a ‘K-Influencer Intensive’

I asked for tips on becoming a “K-Influencer Intensive” as Miles and Cals had done in 2022. There were 300 Intensive members selected based on assessment criteria designed by the K-influencer Academy team in 2022. To be selected as a K-Influencer Intensive, a person or team should have a channel including content about Korea, or have had prior experience as a K-influencer. 

Miles and Cals shared another tip on how to be a K-Influencer Intensive: "Don't be discouraged if you have not been selected as an Intensive member at the beginning, because in 2022 there was a rebuilding program where those who got good scores for mission videos during the program were able to become Intensives. After being selected, you must continue to create quality content so that you can remain at this level.”

Lastly, Miles and Cals reported that they will participate again as K-Influencers in 2023. "We will continue our journey as K-influencers and share many different things about Korea through various interesting content. Stay tuned for our journey as K-influencers in 2023.”
