The Korean Scout Association from Aug. 1-12 is hosting the 25th World Scout Jamboree at Saemangeum, an estuarine tidal flat in Buan-gun County, Jeollabuk-do Province. An estimated 43,000 people, mostly scouts, from over 120 countries are expected to gather under the event's theme "Draw Your Dream!" at a campsite covering 8.8 square km.
The nation last hosted the event 23 years ago at Seoraksan National Park in 1991 near the inter-Korean border.

Several activities were organized ahead of the main event like a pre-training camp at Suncheon Youth Center from July 24-26, with participants reflecting on the virtue of cooperation and respect for others.

The activities were organized by Scout Master Choi Mae-hwa and Scout Capt. Lee Ho-chun from the association's branch in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, who ensured participant safety. Parents and scouts also helped prepare the campsite for the event.

Despite the rainy season, the Korean government has put forth an impressive effort to ensure a successful Jamboree. This event is an opportunity to promote peace, friendship, camaraderie and global unity.
