The Korean cosmetics and beauty sector is globally famous for skin care, with demand for such products growing internationally.
Elizabeth Figueroa, 23, on May 27 opened the first Korean cosmetics store in Esenada, a coastal city in the Mexican state of Baja California. I visited this venue on June 10 to find out more about her journey in an interview.

Briefly introduce yourself.
I studied architecture at the Autonomous University of Baja California. I grew interested in Hallyu (Korean Wave) through a friend who invited me to Korean culture events featuring K-pop and sales stands for Korean products.
How did you get started with your store?
I first sold Korean cosmetics through social media and made deliveries across the city. Seeing how sales were growing, I began thinking about opening an offline store.
The store displays a range of Korean cosmetics and beauty brands.
What do you consider unique about Korean cosmetics?
In my experience, Korean products provide good results when used regularly. Some of them contain natural ingredients that raise the quality of the product, resulting in noticeable changes in skin.
What makes your store interesting to customers?
Mine is the first store to exclusively offer Korean cosmetics in Ensenada. Customers also recognize my products like Korean sunscreen sticks and lip tints from social media reviews.

What are your goals?
I want to hold monthly events for products from a range of brands so that more people can learn about them. I also want to open more stores elsewhere and an online shop so that my products can reach all regions.
