The Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in New Delhi, India, on Sept. 23 celebrated Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) through the event "Presenting Chuseok in India" at the center's auditorium Daecheong Maru.

The wide range of programs offered showcased traditional Korean culture and cuisine. 

A presentation on Chuseok's origins and events is followed by a captivating samulnori (traditional percussion music) performance by the KCC's official troupe.

Other activities included writing Chuseok wishes using Hangeul calligraphy on Hanji (traditional paper), holding arm wrestling matches and wearing Hanbok (traditional clothing). Concluding the event was a serving of songpyeon, or traditional rice cakes symbolizing a good harvest.

KCC Director Hwang Il-yong said the event sought to strengthen the cultural bonds between Korea and India through bilateral exchange of traditional culture.  

Participants at the event wear traditional Hanbok and sample songpyeon (traditional rice cakes).

As a participant, I gained deeper insight into Korean culture and its connections to India's harvest festivals. "Presenting Chuseok in India" reaffirmed the enduring ties between both countries and elicited appreciation for their shared traditions and values.
