I've participated in events and competitions that allow global Hallyu fans to interact with Korean culture and win prizes. Having received, quite a few goodies, I share my collection of traditional Korean souvenirs here.

Traditional fan buchae

Captivated by the historical grandeur in historical Korean dramas, I've always admired the fan buchae, which is traditionally crafted from materials like paper, silk, bamboo and wood. The one I received as a gift featured a design by a rare female artist from the Joseon Dynasty whose paintings of plants and insects showcased her delicate style and sensitivity.

Bokjumeoni (lucky money pouch)

A bokjumeoni (lucky money pouch) is designed to bring good luck, protection and prosperity especially in Lunar New Year (Seollal) and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving). I received a meticulously designed red one last year from the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) as part of my experience with MOIJA K-friends, the KTO's program for online ambassadors of Hallyu.

Shown are the jeogori, or the basic upper garment of a Hanbok, and other gifts I received from the Korea Tourism Organization.

An essential component of Hanbok is the jeogori, the upper blouse or jacket. I paired mine with wide pants and added my bokjumeoni and buchae to create a uniquely traditional look.

Each of my gifts carries a piece of Korea and plays a vital role in my journey to discover more about Korean culture and history.
