The Year End Hallyu Roadshow held this month in Indonesia was a collaborative effort by the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Jakarta, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), content promotional center KOREA 360 and CGV Cinema Indonesia. Held in the cities of Jakarta, Malang, Makassar, Batam, Mataram, Balikpapan, Palembang and Pekanbaru, the traveling event was free in providing an immersive experience into Korean culture.

This is the photo wall of the roadshow in Palembang.

Arriving on Dec. 9 in Palembang, the event featured performances by K-pop acts SECRET NUMBER, ONF, THE BOYZ and Tamin of SHINee. Booths on Korean culture were also run by the KCC, KTO and KOCCA.

The KCC, KTO and KOCCA run booths at the Year End Hallyu Roadshow in Palembang.

The KCC booth allowed visitors to wear Hanbok (traditional clothing). People could also create their own pins with a range of images including those on 50 years of Korea-Indonesia friendship, Korea's national flower mugunghwa (rose of Sharon) and Hansik (traditional cuisine), with the option to draw and print their own designs onto pins.

Visitors also played the traditional game tuho (pitch-pot), in which players throw sticks into small holes in containers. This pastime is typically played at a festival or on a holiday in Korea.

The KTO booth featured tourist destinations in Korea boasting culinary and cultural attractions across the country. Visitors here were asked to complete a survey and after finishing it, they received souvenirs such as a small wallet, brochures, pencil and chopsticks. Another gift was a Visit Korea book with information on things like culinary tours, K-drama filming locations and subway maps.

The KOCCA booth offers Zling, an artificial intelligence-based dance game app using a wearable device.

The final booth run by KOCCA showed Korean music through Zling, a dance game app based on artificial intelligence using a wearable device. This activity attracted major attention as participants danced to songs by K-pop artists like NewJeans, IVE, BTS and Stray Kids and even to those for children.

Despite being the 12th-biggest city in Indonesia, Palembang was fortunate enough to have the roadshow stop by. Hopefully, more such events will be held in the city.
