The International Office of Korea University on Dec. 30 took its Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) graduate students to the amusement park Lotte World in Seoul as part of its cultural interactive program for international students.

Snow was forecast for the whole day but being from Southeast Asia, I was looking forward to the visit. Our group gathered early in the morning, took a group photo and went to the park. Surprisingly, many domestic and international tourists had gathered to enter.

After entering, we went directly to the outdoor area to watch the snow. As the snow continued to descend, the most renowned view of the park was adorned with a picturesque layer of pristine white snow. Despite the cold, the view was breathtaking, with the glistening snow transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland. Many of the outdoor attractions were closed due to the weather, but a lot of people still enjoyed the view outside.

The most famous photo spot of the amusement park is covered in pristine white snow.

Afterwards, we went to the indoor area to try the attractions. As one of the world's largest indoor amusement parks, Lotte World has much to offer regardless of the weather. The interior was beautifully decorated under a winter theme, a sight pleasing to the eyes.

Due to the high number of visitors, however, the rides had long lines. Yet while we waited for one, we saw a parade featuring Santa Claus, a cute snowman and beautiful snow fairies.

Before the day ended, we went out once again to the outdoor area to see the snow one last time, playing in the snow and taking photos. Park staff made snowmen shaped like giant rabbits and little ducks near Seokchonhosu Lake and gave the ducks to visitors, including us. This kind gesture was the perfect complement to my pleasant trip.

We left the park, each holding a snow duck and a heart brimming with joy because of our enchanting winter experience. As the year's end drew near, this unforgettable memory gave me lots of hope for a merrier and happier 2024.
