The Korean Cultural Center in Shanghai, China, on July 30 hosted the evening jazz concert "Feel the Seoul & Shanghai with Jazz," featuring Joo Haneun and her jazz ensemble. 


This event not only brought a refreshing dose of the musical genre to the bustling city but also celebrated bilateral cultural exchange.

The pieces included many well-known songs from both countries as well as original compositions by the artists.

The jazz ensemble performed

The jazz ensemble performed "Moon Over Seoul" against a backdrop of Seoul's enchanting nightscape.


Accompanied by stunning night views of the two cities in the background, the performance was a feast for the ears and the eyes.


What touched me were two tracks featuring the unique characteristics of Seoul and Shanghai. One was a jazz-infused rendition of singer Kim Gun-mo's "Moon Over Seoul" and the other was Teresa Teng's hit "Night Jasmine."

As the last notes faded into the night, I reflected on the way jazz seamlessly blended the cultural elements of Seoul and Shanghai. This concert demonstrated the power of music to transcend boundaries and deepen cultural understanding between nations.


"Feel the Seoul & Shanghai with Jazz" left me with a profound sense of wonder and appreciation for the transformative power of music. This night had jazz rhythms dancing with the heartbeats of two vibrant metropolises.
