On Oct. 13, I took the 96th Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) at the Manipur Center in Manipur, India. Administered by the Department of Foreign Languages at Manipur University, the exam assesses one's Korean-language skills.

Despite the region's ethnic tensions, TOPIK proceeded smoothly thanks to the efforts of professor Lee Hyun-kyung. The conflict in Manipur has impacted daily life amid ongoing with peace talks ongoing, making the safe administering of the exam all the more impressive.

The professor's meticulous planning ensured that all applicants were safe throughout the experience. She coordinated transportation via buses to accommodations, helping candidates focus on the exam rather than the difficulties around them.

A dedicated transportation service was arranged for candidates appearing for the 96th Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) at Manipur University

A bus is arranged for takers of the test.

TOPIK was not only a test but also a deeply meaningful experience. I met people from across India who were connected by our shared passion for Korean. I stay in touch with many of them, with some becoming close friends. This camaraderie fostered through mutual interest in Korean culture turned what could have been a daunting situation into a heartwarming journey.
